A Winter Wonderland- Wedding After Session, Nashville TN

When the snow comes, I love to have a Bride on standby! It's also nice to have 4 wheel drive to get me where I need to be for the good shots! This was an amazing session and Kristin and Chase were so awesome for being out in the cold with me! Of course, if a couple is willing to go out of their way for me, then you better believe I am going to do whatever it takes to get amazing pictures of them!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this post in the comment section!

Wedding Photographers - Be Unique, Be yourself

How does a wedding photographer make their photos stand out in a sea of thousands upon thousands of other wedding photographers? What are you doing to be different? Maybe a better question is, what are you doing to be yourself? Because in reality, there is no one else like you, so if you are truly being yourself and instilling your values into your photography, the pictures you take should be a unique reflection of who you are as a Photographer.

ISPWP Contest winner!

I am happy to announce that 2 of my pictures recently placed in the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP) competition! This was the first time I entered and was only able to enter 4 pictures total, so I was happy when I learned 2 had placed! The ISPWP is a society I have been wanting to get in for a while but you can't join unless you have shot a ton of weddings and your work is at a certain level. I am so happy to say that I am the ONLY photographer in the Nashville area in the ISPWP and I hope to keep representing Nashville with the best wedding images!

Is the D750 shooting to slow for you? - Solution

A lot of people are complaining about how the D750starts to slow down after you have taken so many pictures with it. Some have even sent their cameras back to Nikon, but that's not the solution. I let you know how to fix this problem and get you back on track for your next shoot.

The speed of your SD card is everything when shooting with the D750! The files are just way to big to handle the old cards of yesterday. I put a link for you below to find the exact same cards that I used in the video and they are absolutely awesome!

How my editing style has changed

This morning, I was going through all the weddings I ever shot, which was a bit overwhelming, but came to the wedding of Jim and Christina Holloway. Noticing that I still had the RAW files of the bridal session, I decided to see how my editing style has changed over the years! I imported the pics into Lightroom 5 and did my thing. I decided not to look at the older pics until I was done and at the end, I would compare them and see which one I liked better!

It was a very cool experience and I can definitely say that I like the way I edit now compared to 4-5 years ago. Here are a couple pictures that I edited.

The old picture is on the left and the new editing style is on the right

editing-2

We should always be trying to improve the way we edit as photographers. It's cool to look back at the way I use to do things and how I have changed. I hope as the years go on, that I can write a post 5 years from now and say "I can't believe I use to edit that way" ;)

If you're not moving forward, what direction are you moving?

Nashville Wedding at the Ryman Auditorium

Two nights ago, I had the honor of shooting a wedding at the Historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville TN. Helen Morisette did an amazing job planning it and I wanted to post some pictures to show you what a wedding could be like there ;) If you're just getting engaged, you want to seriously consider getting married at the Ryman! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. The ceremony takes place on the historic stage of the Ryman, a place that every country artist dreams about performing on! The guests of the wedding are allowed to explore the Ryman Auditorium from top to bottom, including going back stage where only Artists are normally allowed to go! When the Ryman isn't being filled with amazing music, it serves as a wedding venue for both celebrities and destination weddings from around the world.

If you're interested, contact Helen Morisette to get the details!

Question #2 - The future of wedding photography gear?

Here are a couple of questions that Ryan Maciej presented to me.

It seems like more and more of the landscape photography community is trending towards mirrorless camera systems, such as the Sony a7 likely due to their size and weight when traveling. Where do you see the equipment used by wedding photographers heading in the next few years?

Would you rather have "smaller" file sizes for editing, or do you ever find the need for massive photos like the d810's 36MP sensor or medium format?

Do you carry a lot of lenses to a wedding to make sure you have everything, or do you like to keep it simple and have your couple go-to lenses you carry.

Do you bring a tripod to weddings?

Thank you Ryan for the questions. You can see come of his landscape photography here: RyanMaciej.com

Question #1- Is the D750 better than the D4?

I received a question from Kenneth Quinn last night, asking me "Is the D750 better than the D4? and if I was to upgrade which one should I go for Nikon D4? or Nikon D810? I would appreciate your help"

Great question Kenneth, here's a video hopefully giving you a good answer to your question.

You can see Kenneth's fashion blog at http://kennethquinn.blogspot.com/

Here is a link to the D750 I talked about in my video. Yes, this is an affiliated link and yes I will make money if you click on it and buy it, but if my review helped you to make the decision to get it, then I ask you do my a solid and buy your D750 through this link ;) My sole purpose (with these links) is to help photographers to find the right gear that helps them to become better photographers. It's not to make money, but it also doesn't hurt to make a little extra cash.

If you are new to Nikon and you need a lens, use this link and get a great 50mm lens with the camera.
